The Leeds City Region has significant economic and innovation assets including over 100,000 businesses, 8 Higher Education Institutions producing research of which 36% is world-class, 10% of which is world-leading, and 36,000 students graduating each year. With a £48 bn economy that contributes 5% of the total UK economy the Leeds City Region is a major player in UK plc.
However, evidence shows that even with the advantage of these assets, the city region’s economy faces real challenges, and the Leeds City Region’s economic outputs do not match up to those of other globally recognised city regions.
By working across the city region to better connect these assets, the city region’s ambition is to maximise the potential of these assets and make the existing economy work better.
The Leeds City Region Partnership will work to ensure that key policy stakeholders work more closely together to bring our economic, knowledge and innovation assets together to support existing businesses and to attract further enterprise from across the globe.
To achieve these aims, we work in partnership with the City Region's Higher Education Institutions, Further Education providers.
