The Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership has successfully secured £24 million from the government's £500 million Growing Places Fund for capital projects.
The LEP has now launched the first round of bidding for the Fund and is inviting expressions of interest from a variety of organisations. The deadline for expressions of interest is 26 March 2012.
Up to £10m will be available in round one to front fund infrastructure projects that will drive economic growth in the Leeds City Region.
The Growing Places Fund is a revolving fund, and will be given out mainly as loans.
Examples of projects the Fund could support include:
- investment in physical infrastructure, such as a new road to access housing and/ or employment development land
- investment in infrastructure for local energy generation
- projects that improve infrastructure and provide apprenticeship and training opportunities
Final decisions on the allocation of funds for round one will be made by the summer.
