Research and Publications: Housing and Spatial Planning 

 Published in September 2011, this Housing Market Monitoring Report for Leeds City Region is the third update to the original work. Research has been undertaken on behalf of the Leeds City Region Partnership, using Land Registry data to the end of 2010.

 In 2008 the West Yorkshire Housing Partnership commissioned the Town and Regional Planning department at the University of Sheffield (TRP) and the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) to develop a methodology for monitoring the housing market in West Yorkshire.

This report is the second update to the original work, published in July 2008 and has been extended to include the additional five local authorities that constitute the Leeds City Region. This has been undertaken on behalf of the Leeds City Region Housing Partnership.

Analysis of key trends emerging in the Leeds City Region housing market.

This Investment Plan, the first for the Leeds City Region, sets out the investment programme(s) for the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and other complementary public sector funding to deliver city region housing and regeneration strategic ambitions.

 The Leeds City Region Housing & Regeneration Strategy and Investment Framework puts forward ambitious and innovative programmes for accelerating economic recovery through city region housing and regeneration investment.

Delivery programme for the unique Leeds City Region Urban Eco Settlement Initiative - piloting new ecotechnologies and demonstrating truly sustainable models of development.

Rural communities play a vital role to the economic success of the city region. Through this research the Partnership seeks to explore the dynamics between rural regeneration and affordable rural housing in relation to economic growth.

The World Class Places strategy acknowlegdes the link between quality of place and prosperous, healthy and safe communities. The strategy defines the vital elements of quality of place - including quality ggreen infrastructure and a good housing mix. Leeds City Region policy, particularly in housing and sustainable development, actively supports and acknowledges the World Class Places vision.

This report seeks to examine the relationship between residential offer, quality of place and competitiveness in the North's city regions. Examining such relationships informs the way Leeds City Region addresses housing, regeneration and transport needs in order to develop programmes that successfully deliver the city region’s economic aspirations.
