Economic leadership, when it counts, where it counts
The launch of the pilot programme
27 November 2009
More than 350 regional and national leaders, businesses, academics, councillors and civil servants gathered in Harrogate on Friday the 27 November at an event that has marked a milestone in devolution.
The Chair of the Leaders Board, Cllr Andrew Carter, launched the Leeds City Region pilot programme at the event, and signed the pilot agreement with Minister for CLG and BIS, Rosie Winterton, MP, along with other city region representatives.
In doing so, the Leeds City Region Partnership became the first city region to have officially signed off its pilot agreement.
The Summit also saw the Partnership launch its Housing and Regeneration Strategy, Transport Strategy, as well as a consultation on the Innovation Capital Prospectus and Investment Plan (ICPIP).
Open question and answer sessions provided the opportunity for an exciting series of debates and for delegates to engage on the next steps and the challenges ahead.
